Requirements depend on facility type, materials, quantities and jurisdiction. Practically, a tenant-improvement scope should identify every material the work will disturb before demo starts to protect workers and comply with renovation rules.
OSHA assigns the GC supervisory responsibility on projects that include covered asbestos work. The GC should obtain survey information, coordinate regulated areas, protect adjacent trades and keep unqualified workers from disturbing known or presumed materials.
Regulated demolition and renovation may require written notification at least 10 working days before commencement. Thresholds are 160 sq ft, 260 linear ft or 35 cu ft of regulated material. We build the notification timeline into your project schedule.
